He was born in Thái Bình, Hố Nai, Việtnam, in 1979. Earned his Bachelor’s of Literature in 2001. Started the literary magazine Giấy Vụn (Shreds). Presently living in Sàigòn (Hồ Chí Minh City) holding various jobs including selling sandwiches. His major publication: Xáo Chộn Chong Ngày.

Carol J. Compton
She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in English as a Foreign Language from Southern Illinois University, and a B.A. in English from Cornell College. Beginning in the 1960s, she lived and worked in Southeast Asia, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand and as an International Voluntary Services volunteer in Laos. The recipient of two Fulbright research grants, her work and publications have focused on Southeast Asian languages and literature, most particularly on oral poetry.

Đỗ Vinh
(Joseph Dovinh)
He was born in the Central Highlands of Việtnam, in 1968. He immigrated with his family to the United States in 1975 and studied at the University of Washington, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Political Science. He became active in the literary circles of the Pacific Northwest in the mid 1980’s through the early 1990’s; regularly attending Red Sky Poetry readings and appearing at Bumbershoot open mikes. During this time Dovinh was exposed to the writings of Sam Hamill, William Stafford, Nelson Bentley, Raymond Carver and Eric Scigliano. His poetry and writings have appeared in Tiên Rồng, The New Asian Journal, The Seattle Weekly, The Việtnam Forum of the Yale University, Người Việt, Việt Báo, Viễn Đông, Văn Hóa, Việt Weekly and Tạp chí Thơ (Journal of Poetry). He gave readings at World Beyond Festival, Beyond Baroque and LA Poetry Festival as part of their Newer Poets series in 2001, 2002. He served as Advisor to the Oakland Museum’s Exhibit: What’s Going On? California and the Vietnam Era and as Consultant to the Rancho Santiago Community College District. He also works as a court certified interpreter and instructor of the Vietnamese language. At present, Dovinh lives with his wife Nikki Nguyễn-Gia Lệ-Thu and their two sons Don Laurentio and Joseph Jefferson in Central Valley, California.

He was born in Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Việtnam, in 1941. (True Name: Đỗ Khiêm)
He was born in Hải Phòng, North Việtnam, in 1954. He came to France in 1968. Returning to Vietnam, he joined the Armed Forces in 1973. After the collapse of South Vietnam, he immigrated to France in 1975 and subsequently moved to the US, resettled in California. Đỗ Kh. started contributing to the literary community in 1987, and was on the editorial board of Tạp Chí Thơ and Hợp Lưu magazines. He is the author of four books: Cây Gậy Làm Mưa, (Rain-Making Cane) story, 1989; Thơ Đỗ Kh., poetry, 1989; Có Những Bực Mình Tức Không Thể Nói, 1990; Ký Sự Đi Tây, (Travels in France), 1991.

He was born in  Phụng Village, Thừa Thiên, Việtnam. Schooled at Huế National University, and Sàigòn Academy of Law. Joined the military in 1969, incarcerated in political prison after 1975. Immigrated to the United States in 1996. His poetry has appeared in Văn, Văn Học, Hợp Lưu, Tạp chí Thơ, Phố Văn, Khởi Hành... He was born in 1984. He participated in the 2000 and 2005 competitions for students, and won two awards; the 2000 award was for essay on forestry, and the 2005 poetry. Gyang Anh Ien’s poems appeared mostly in Tạp Chí Thơ (Journal of Poetry), and recently via electronic journals, including Tiền Vệ, Tân Hình Thức. His collection of short stories is scheduled to publish in October, 2005 by Kim Đồng Publisher. Presently living in Vietnam.

He is the author of more than fifteen books of poetry, research and translation, and winner of several literary awards.
